faded memory

  • The first time I deleted my digital photos by accident, I cried because of all the lost potential.

After I finished, I found a solution to reclaim the lost files using recovery software that brought most of the information back.

A handful of photos, however, were dramatically scrambled. The original photographs rendered into a digital tapestry of incoherent color shifts and pixilated lines.

It reminded me of when digital cameras emerged as the dominant way of capturing everyday memories in the early aughts.

A number of people explored the idea that humans could create paintings better than new technology, paint stroke by meticulous paint stroke.

In this new world of NFT and ChatGTP, I embrace the dawn of the last cycle of technological breakthroughs for what they were: faded memories of a bygone era.

This series explores technology as a tool of memory.
