objects + spaces (2006 - )

  • was ten years old when I first saw it in a book: Christopher Little's iconic image of Fallingwater and something shifted in my subconscious. Architecture, the way a structure occupies space, catches light, and insists on being looked at, has driven my photography ever since.

My time at the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, stewards of Fallingwater since 1963, moved that early fascination from the personal into the professional. Studying and recreating work by Luke Swank and Ezra Stoller brought discipline to that passion.

The images here also carry the unmistakable influence of photographers Julius Shulman and René Burri; architects Frank Lloyd Wright and Oscar Niemeyer; designer Ray Eames; developer Joseph Eichler; and pop artist Wayne Thiebaud.

Pop culture, art history, and architecture. All of it is present, if you know where to look.
